Your Questions answered

What is Botox®?

Botox® has been used for 25 years; It is a type of purified protein produced by clostridium botulinum. It is very safe when injected directly into the facial muscles in very tiny amounts during treatment.

How does it work?

Botox® works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the facial muscles that have been injected. This makes the muscle less active and therefore softens and smoothes the appearance of persistent lines and wrinkles.

How many treatments will I need?

In most cases patients can see a real difference after one treatment, this is because Botox® works gradually, smoothing and softening lines and wrinkles for up to four months. Every face is unique and we will advise you how many treatments you will need and how often depending on the results you would like to achieve.

How long does the Botox® last?

The effects of Botox® often last 4 months depending on the patient. If you decide to stop treatment any permanent lines and wrinkles will gradually return.

Is the treatment painful?

It is very rare for the treatment with Botox® to be painful. Most patients experience a feeling of slight discomfort, if at all during treatment itself but that is all.

I am worried I will end up with a "trout pout"

Following a full assessment we will aim to meet your expectations being conscious not to over contour the lips and therefore avoid excessive bulk in this region.

Can I go back to work after the procedure?

With Botox® injections at worst you will have a few little red areas which subside over the following few hours. After dermal filler injections of the mouth area you may experience temporary mild bruising and swelling so in fact you may decide not to return to work that day.
